Smudger’s little sister, Kylie scolded and chased him for coming home late and because of that she had to do all the chores. Their father who works in the bakery shouted at them for making such a ruckus and asked them to go to their room. They were upset that their father had changed since bread and cakes are prohibited. The only type of bread he’s allowed to make is the hard, healthy bread following the recipe set by the government. Before all of this happens, he used to joke around and let his children bake with him. The father went outside and threw away the failed bread. Smudger promised his little sister that she will have a taste of the chocolate. He asked her to keep her mouth shut.
Meanwhile, at Huntley’s house, his mother made him a healthy bread pudding with artificial sweeteners instead of honey and caramel syrup since they were banned. He frowned when he took a bite. His mother expected that. He complimented that her cooking is great but since sugar are banned, there’s nothing they can do about it. She sighed that if she served his father the pudding, he’ll be mad. He promised to keep her mum smile and he asked himself what would father do at a time like this.
The next day, the boys decided to do a research at the school library. They found out that Clumbus brought back all sorts of things from the New World such as corn, potatoes, tomatoes and even cocoa beans. Cocoa beans were soon spread and cultivated across the world. They were interrupted by 2 students, Myrtle and Frankie. Myrtle thought it was unusual for Smudger to be in a library. Huntley found an image of a cocoa bean. As soon as Frankie had a glanced of what it was, he turned off the screen. The boys decided to continue at home. Frankie wrote what she had seen and said that “excessive curiosity will lead to the destruction of oneself”.
An inspector received a call that the intelligent officers were able to pinpoint the location of the hidden traders. He ordered them to get CACAO ready for action. He’s determined to destroy the useless trash.
